Stromlo to Cotter Mountain Bike Trails

DIRT ART

Purdon assumed an approvals management role, to ensure timely processing of development/works approval, and proactively pursued engagement with ACT Government and National Capital Authority officers to ensure project support. We consider these inputs significantly added value to the design process through ‘de-risking’ the project to ensure there were no significant impediments to progressing the preferred design through the application process.

Of particular importance to our role in the project was advice relating to the existing and required tenure for the length for the trail, which crossed public and privately leased land with multiple custodians and sublessees, and nature reserve. Our early advice ensured the tenure did not result in unnecessary delays through the multiple planning approval processes undertaken.

The 15km trail will go from Stromlo to the Cotter. It will link 2 popular recreation areas and showcase the unique ACT landscape. It will do so whilst avoiding significant impact to the native ecology and without impacting on items of heritage significance.
