Purdon provided statutory planning services to support the delivery of a mixed-use development within the Queanbeyan CBD, comprising residential apartments and ground floor commercial uses on a prominent site adjoining Queanbeyan Park.
Our work included preparation and management of a Development Application to Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council, including a detailed assessment of the proposal against the applicable planning framework and relevant controls. This involved responding to site-specific considerations associated with height, scale, interface with public open space, and integration within the established urban context.
Purdon worked collaboratively with the project team to ensure the proposal achieved a high-quality design outcome while maintaining compliance with statutory requirements. This included facilitating design development, coordinating specialist inputs, and managing the assessment process through to determination.
The project resulted in development consent for a seven-storey mixed-use building, delivering 24 residential apartments and commercial floor space. The approval supports broader strategic objectives for urban consolidation and activation within the Queanbeyan CBD, reinforcing the role of well-located infill development in leveraging existing infrastructure, public domain assets and local services.
