Kennedy Street Development

ZAPARI

Following significant consultation with the community, Purdon undertook the preparation and submission of the DA for a mixed-use development on an existing Units Plan site in Kingston.

The DA was refused, without opportunity for RFI or amendments. The client took the matter to ACAT for resolution, where mediation occurred between the Kingston Barton Community Group (FBCG), members of the community, The Territory and Zapari. An amended design was put forth and accepted during these Pre-ACAT discussions.

Numerous adjustments were made to the initial plans and all parties agreed to not proceed to ACAT. Although this experience demonstrates development issues can be resolved at ACAT mediation, it should be noted that Purdon believes the process to be mediocre and opportunities to resolve DAs prior to ACAT are always preferred.

The process required thorough understanding of the project and legislation, giving our client the ability to act confidently without delay, acheiving a fast mediation and overall positive outcome for all.
