Consulting WITH the Community – Opportunities to Participate
Consultation with the community will be an important input to the decision about how best to use surplus school sites.
The consultations will be undertaken in two overlapping stages.
In Stage One "Options Workshops" were held in each of Belconnen, Tuggeranong and Woden/Weston Creek. At these workshops the community reviewed the four Options which the Government identified for the possible re-use of the sites and suggested alternatives. Summaries of the Options Workshop Outcomes are available.
In Stage Two local consultations will be conducted with each local community about the future use of the former school in their suburb.
The local consultations will be supported by the results of technical investigations including:
- information about planning provisions affecting the site
- an assessment of the traffic situation on existing streets
- assessment of the site characteristics
- building condition reports
- consideration of demographic trends
- community facilities in each area
- demand for additional community space.
The local consultations will be held between mid-October and late November. For details see the Timetable.
You are invited to come along, talk with the project team and make your suggestions for the future use of the community’s surplus school sites.
Throughout the project, and especially during the consultation period, members of the community can provide feedback and comments through this website. Every submission and feedback form will be logged, acknowledged and analysed.
