Local Consultations
The approach to local consultation will vary depending on whether the site is one which the Government has announced is to be disposed of or one where no decision has yet been made. People who attend the local consultations will be encouraged to give feedback on the options presented. This information will form input to the decisions on future use of the sites.
The timetable for the second round of local consultations is provided in the table below.
Sites for Retention/Release
The Government has not yet made a decision on the future use of
10 of the former school sites. Information about these sites is becoming available progressively.
Two rounds of local consultations will be held about these sites.
FIRST ROUND OF LOCAL CONSUTLATIONS
The first round of local consultations have been completed. These consultations:
- presented the findings of the Options Workshops
- presented details of the school site and the local area
- allowed for discussion of the broad options and how they might apply to the specific site
- gained the views of the local community and what they know about the site.

SECOND ROUND OF LOCAL CONSUTLATIONS
The second sessions will make recommendations about the preferred option and possible uses for the site. The second round of consultations will take the form of community information sessions. Details of the dates of and the locations for the second round of local consultations are outlined in the table below.
Community Information Sessions
The Community Information Sessions will take the form of informal display where interested people can drop-in at any convenient time over a period of about three hours in the late afternoon and early evening.
Information about the site, including the application of the generic options to each siteand the draft recommendations for sites will be presented at the community information sessions. People attending the information sessions will be able to read and absorb the material in their own time.
Key specialist team members as well as the consultation team will attend each session and will be available to answer any questions, provide information or receive information.
There will also be opportunities to provide written feedback on the recommendations being considered at the information sessions. In addition feedback can be provided via the webpage or by email.
There are several ways that the community will be advised about the community information sessions:
- local residents will receive a newsletter in their letterbox about one week before the community information session is to be held
- there will be advertisements in the local press
- information is available on the website
- other stakeholders including organisations interested in the sites and people who attended an options workshop will be invited to attend
It is not necessary to register to attend a community information session.

People who attend will be able to discuss the information presented and give feedback to the consultants on what matters to them about the sites.
Sites for Release
The Government has announced it will release five of the former school sites. There has been a community information session for each of these 5 sites.
The purpose of these sessions was to:
- consider the site assessment and land use for each site
- consider other appropriate options or land uses
- provide opportunity for community comment on the development options for each site.
